Plot Summary: Before he was executed, the legendary Pirate King Gold Roger revealed that he had hidden the treasure One Piece somewhere in the Grand Line. Now, many pirates are off looking for this legendary treasure to claim the title Pirate King. One pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, is a boy who had eaten the Devil's Fruit and gained rubber powers. Now he and his crew are off to find One Piece, while battling enemies and making new friends along the way.

One Piece author Eichiro Oda stated that Luffy's personality and traits are heavilly influenced by Dragonball main character Son Goku, furthermore, Luffy's Gear Second which he used in his fight against Rucci was a complete duplicate of Goku's Kaioken, in both cases the skin turns reddish pink and emits vapor from the body, afterwards the strength and most notably the speed increases multiple times, and in both cases it's stated that the techniques cause tremendous stress on the body and could even shorten the user's life. This serves as something of an indicator as to how much Dragonball/Z continues to influence long running Shounen series to this day.
The character that asks Sanji if he will participate in the cooking competition after he is challenged also appears when the Strawhat Pirates leave Warship Island (he is a small man holding a box? and chewing on a toothpick?)
There is a subtle reference to Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in episode 411. Just as Elder Nyon is falling from Boa Hancock's tower, one of the Kuja somewhat resembles Yoko, from the hairstyle, to the design of her bra, both look largely similar.

Review:
Released in North America by Bandai Entertainment, fans are getting the exciting opportunity to watch Love Hina, a quirky series that lies somewhere between a comedy, a romance, and random adventure. The second DVD comes with four episodes, and a few fun extras. Among the extras is something entitled “Keitaro's Songbook” which includes the Romaji and English translated lyrics for a song sung in the middle of the eighth episode. The feature gives a brief explanation of the cultural in-joke behind the song, and allows the viewer to hear the song in its brief entirety. Another feature in the series is a character gallery featuring Motoko, as well as a brief biography on her. The DVD itself is packaged amongst a nest of extras, as the insert unfolds to reveal a brief guide to Motoko's character traits as seen through the eyes of Keitaro. The reverse side of the cover reveals a poster-like print of the characters inside the video game, like the scenario they find themselves in in the final episode of the disc. The episodes alone make this fun series a great addition to any humor fans' anime collection, but the extras are an added boost that, while not anything spectacular, are nevertheless amusing.
Somehow, Love Hina is series that can be wholesomely intriguing, while at the same time possessing an incoherently continuous storyline. Each episode ties to the one preceding and proceeding it well, as the series keeps an ongoing plot that allows the episodes to flow together. Within each episode, however, is a mess of randomness that allows the series to be spontaneous and exciting, giving viewers something radically new to look forward to each episode. In the end, the amounts of miscellany and cohesiveness form a perfect equilibrium, producing an end product that is both wildly fun to watch, yet logistic enough to keep watching. The hilarious antics of the Hinata Inn tenants and the people they come in contact with are reasons enough to watch and re-watch the series multiple times with fresh laughs each viewing.
Especially interesting was the music and the sound effects that popped up throughout the series. The music itself is nothing spectacular, but it's cute and emotional enough at times to provide audio backup to the story, while not becoming blatantly obvious. The opening and ending theme songs sung by Megumi Hayashibara are pleasant to listen to, depending on what kind of mood the viewer is in, as the opening is happy and uplifting, while the ending is more wistful and moribund. The sound effects in the series, though, are nothing short of amusing. Many of the sounds placed in the episodes seem almost to have no reason of existing, other than to let the sound directors push extra buttons. Oddly, this is far from annoying, as they somehow actually manage to accentuate the comedic effects. Effectiveness aside, it is rather puzzling why a whistle is played every time Kaolla Su enters the scene, as the two have nothing in common whatsoever. Other than this puzzling tidbit, the rest of the music and sound is perfectly fine and compatible, sans one technical issue in one of the episodes. Partway through one of the scenes, the sound fades out due to a bad audio transfer so that the characters can barely be heard. This only happens once throughout the disc, however, so the problem is nothing major.
In regards to the rest of the audios in the series, there is unfortunately one grotesque characteristic about it – the English dub. While the Japanese voicing cast performed brilliantly, making their lines seem natural and fun-loving as the series demands, the English actors delivered their lines as though they were forced. Not only were the actors unemotional and dry, the actors were also horribly cast. The Hinata girls that were supposed to be young, junior high characters were cast with mature, middle-aged voices, which ruined the cuteness of the characters. Meanwhile, Kitsune was cast with a heavy, feminine Southern drawl that was not only uncharacteristic of her party-loving, tomboy character, but also excruciatingly grating on auditory nerves. Fans of the series are better off choosing to watch the subtitled version, and never touching the dub in order to protect themselves from scarred ears.
Love Hina is one of those rare shows that are just purely fun to watch. Good times abound when the disc is in the DVD tray, regardless of what mood the viewer is in. Granted, there are certain choices, such as watching the series dubbed, that may dampen any unready viewer's day, but for the most part, Love Hina is something that can be enjoyed alone, or with a big group of friends. Whether viewers are in the mood for comedy or adventure or even action, Love Hina is the surefire way to go.

Keima Katsuragi, a second-year high school student, is an avid dating sim gamer. He is known on the Internet as "The Capturing God" for his legendary skills to be able to "capture" any 2D girl in games. However, in his actual school life, Keima is known as otamegane, a derogatory portmanteau of the two words otaku (オタク) and megane (メガネ-"glasses").
At the start of the series, Keima receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts what is thought to be a challenge, and a demon from Hell nicknamed Elci appears. She asks for his cooperation to help her in catching the runaway spirits. These spirits hide themselves inside the girl's heart, and Elci suggests that the only method to force the spirits out is by "capturing" their hearts—making them fall in love. Appalled by the idea, Keima refuses after clarifying to Elci that he is only interested in "capturing" 2D girls and that he detests reality. Nevertheless, with the contract already accepted, Keima would have to help Elci no matter what; if they fail, both Elci and Keima would lose their heads.

Character: Keima Katsuragi is the protagonist of this series. He is a cold guy that is super intelligent and just loves to play videogames on his PFP, even in the middle of the class. Let's put it this way: Keima is like Light or Lelouch but instead of being the god of the world or doing a rebellion for overthrow someone he is making girls fall in love with him just by analyzing them. Our other protagonist is Elsee, the demon that Keima must aid. Elsee worships Keima and always calls him Kami-Sama. She is a good girl with good intentioned feelings and that loves f...tr...s for some strange reason.
Enjoyment: I had a great time with the first episode. I was quite curios before as to how Manglobe would adapt the first episode but they did a good job by explaining what Keima must do and did a terrific job at his first capture. If I enjoyed so much the manga I don't doubt I will enjoy the anime adaption too.
Overall: The World God Only Knows has alot of potential, even if it doesn't follow the manga closely. I have high hopes on this adaptation. The best thing of this one is that it can be watched by anyone, you will have a lot of fun watching it.

Rating: 2 (of 5)
GREAT VICTORIA'S SECRET, THIS SERIES IS OVERFLOWING WITH POO!
That is not any assessment of quality, mind you, it is full of literal crap. The titular superheroines’ first great challenge is defeating a fecal monster, the ghost of a plumber who died an unfortunate death and must now be put to rest. The girls are “angels” of sorts working under a humorless priest named Garter Belt to turn ghosts into “Heaven Coins” and earn their entrance back into paradise. Not that they care much about that: Panty and Stocking are a vulgar pair more excited about sex and sugar respectively then earning their wings. You know, that combined with the oft-cited Butch Hartman/Rob Renzetti in a blender style gives this some serious promise. After all, it may be crude, stupid and garish, but it doesn't commit that cardinal anime sin of being boring, right?

Princess Resurrection Vol. 1 manga Review
The heart of the series is obviously meant to be the difficult position Hime is in, fighting for her life against her own siblings. And yet we're never allowed inside her head, making the emotional subtext slight at best. On the other hand, we spend plenty of time in Hiro's head, but he's better as a running joke than a character. Probably the most sympathetic character is Riza, a werewolf half-breed whose brother was killed by Hime, and at least half of her appeal is her abs (the other half being the overlay of anger and angst over her basically fun-loving core).

Princess Resurrection Vol. 1 manga Review
This is all entirely beside the point of course; no one reads something like this for existential human drama or delicate emotions. But were they present, it would help to distract from the series' marked lack of purpose. Supernatural assassins aside, the world of monsters is ignored outright, and the political struggles and social institutions behind Hime's current station and exile have yet to receive any elaboration. This is an introductory volume, so naturally one can expect more in the way of explanation on these points later, but that doesn't change the fact that there is no indication here of where, if anywhere, this series is headed. It's just a lot of Hime getting the better of monster nasties by hook or crook. As cool as she is (did I mention she uses a chainsaw?) she has trouble carrying even this one volume on her merits alone.

Princess Resurrection Vol. 1 manga Review
Yasunori Mitsunaga's artwork is heavy on detail, contrasts, and dark shadows and excels at moldy mansion, hollow hospital, dark woods kinds of atmosphere. Backgrounds are illustrated with meticulous care, as are vehicles, weapons, and tools. Hime and Riza are the center of the series' visual appeal, and Hime is a visual force all her own; a tea-sipping, cat-eyed hellion with a perpetual smirk, lithe physique, haughty royal bearing and a gothic dress that simply has to be hell to draw. And yet, for all its detail, fan-service and geometric precision, there's something strangely amateurish about it. Something in how characters' proportions get awkwardly off-model, in the vaguely unconvincing way that people move, in the over-reliance on speedlines, in the occasional ineffective transition.

Princess Resurrection Vol. 1 manga Review
This is another Del Rey manga that feels—in art reproduction, paper quality and presentation—like it's worth the eleven bucks it costs. Extras include a short humorous Princess Resurrection spin-off, (very) brief translation notes, and the usual next-volume preview.
Given a little more narrative momentum, and fewer failed attempts at horror, this series has the potential to be good light fun with a mean little macabre bite. But for now, it has all the direction and appeal of a headless chicken: it runs in circles squirting blood, and is good for a laugh or two, provided you're in the right frame of mind.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy DVD
Ah, feudal Japan: when men were men, violence was violent, and women were traded like sexual Pokémon cards.
This is violent, unapologetic sleaze, written by an expert sleaze-monger and animated with nauseating attention to every violent, sleazy detail. From the opening scene of a retainer pulling his own innards out, it's obvious where this series is going and what it is planning to do with its feudal setting. To Shigurui, feudal Japan isn't the admittedly merciless land of adventure portrayed in Akira Kurosawa samurai films. It's a moral wasteland populated by violent beasts whose one goal is to perfect the art of killing. And for viewers who like their entertainment gory, sadistic and full of gratuitous sex, it's heaven.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy DVD
A heaven of spilled guts, dismembered bodies and torrents of blood, all stemming from an unending series of escalating sword battles. Manga-ka Takayuki Yamaguchi, the brain (for lack of a better word) behind the universally reviled Apocalypse Zero, this time grounds his outrageous violence in a semblance of reality, while director Hiroshi Hamasaki channels every hideous, gut-crunching impulse that he has into action scenes that find a kind of grotesque beauty in the show's celebrations of martial-arts S&M. The washed-out minimalism of the series' visuals works well in these scenes, exploding with hair-trigger suddenness into complex movement and gouts of red, red blood.

Reviews:

Aria the Origination
DVD - Collection Review
There's no dub, but really, who expected one?
With background on Alicia and Akira's formative years and a focus on growing up that sees the central trio of Akari, Aika and Alice roughing out their future paths, this is a far more traditionally substantial season than the franchise's previous two. Occasionally rushed and less sparklingly magical than previously, the series doesn't suffer the change without consequence, but it remains a graceful and gorgeous experience. And if its new maturity inspires a certain sadness, well that's exactly as it should be. In the words of Akari: wonderful.

DVD - Collection Review
And of course it is all—every glimpse of the future, window into the past, and glance at the increasingly evanescent present—transcendentally beautiful, crowned with images and sequences so gorgeously constructed that they defy easy encapsulation. There's a retirement ceremony that echoes the royal processions of bygone eras, a simple ferry crossing during which music and motion combine to communicate the economic beauty of Akari's sculling, and of course a nearly endless number of discrete moments when Sato's meticulous sound design, the carefully researched settings, and Choro Club and Takeshi Senoo's wonderful acoustic score make a living thing of Neo-Venezia.

Aria the Origination
DVD - Collection Review
Right Stuf's presentation of the series is every bit a match for its content. Their thinpak box is solidly built and thoroughly bedecked with the series' delectable art. The accompanying booklet is colorful, dense with interviews and cast retrospectives, and just generally a joy to read and look at (even if it has some embarrassing misprints). The decision to place the single Arietta OVA on its own disc seems wasteful until it becomes clear just how packed the other discs are. Every one of the three Origination discs features four to five episodes (episodes 1-13, plus bonus episode 5.5) along with two or three picture dramas—barely animated video mangas with enough bad dialogue to hint at how disastrous the series could have been were it not so carefully written and executed. And to round out the set, there's an entire extra disc of cast and crew interviews, including "SatoJun's 'Venice I'm Sorry!' Returns", a sequel of sorts to Aria the Natural's thoroughly charming travelogue featuring the thoroughly charming Junichi Sato.

MM! ED Single – More-more LOVERS!! [Asou Natsuko]
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O10K3P53
Princess Resurrection vol 1 Manga Review
Only one chapter—a creepy stay in a vampire-infested hospital—succeeds as horror. The rest, for all of their battling monsters, are all but entirely devoid of terror, dread, creeps, chills and willies, and haven't even the sheer gore factor to qualify them. There is plenty of (curiously rendered) blood, and the artwork lends itself fairly well to classical Hollywood horror atmospherics, but the passages given over to suspense are generally wasted. Humor isn't enough of a focus for this to be a laugh-riot, but there are amusing little jokes throughout, nearly all of them dealing with the endless abuse heaped on Hiro. He's run over, stabbed, garroted, chain-sawed, thrown through windows, impaled, dismembered, and left at the bottom of a lake for an entire chapter. It's rather refreshing to see an ostensible male lead placed in a position as protector and yet remain as thoroughly incompetent as Hiro is.

The seasons change and Neo Venezia cloaks itself in the shifting light and atmosphere of each as Akari, Aika and Alice continue to ply their trade as Undines, water guides to the wonders of their peaceful world. Their ambitions, to become Prima Undines who can guide tourists without an accompanying superior, remain the same, as does the gentle rhythm of their lives, but no life stands completely still and their ambitions may be closer at hand than it seems.

Aria the Origination
DVD - Collection Review
If forward motion is the yardstick by which you measure quality, then The Origination is the best of all Aria incarnations. In its final season the series trims away the overt magical trappings of The Natural, narrows its focus back down to its central trio of apprentice undines, and moves their lives forward with almost shocking suddenness. After reveling in its sense of place and celebrating at length the languorous magic of everyday life, the series finally shifts its gaze to its characters' futures. If ever you were curious about the fate of Akari, Alice, Aika or any of the other "A"s who populate the series, The Origination's final episodes will leave you quite sated.

Aria the Origination
DVD - Collection Review
The commencement of forward motion comes at a cost, however. This is by far the least magical of Aria's installments, and not just because Cait Sith has gone MIA. The Origination lacks The Animation's freshness as well as The Natural's sprawl, the space in which to steep us in the laid-back atmosphere of Neo-Venezia. Its future focus foreshortens Akari's wide-eyed explorations of the here and now, and its final episodes, and the changes they effect, are more bittersweet coming of age drama than celebrations of everyday wonder. The conflicting emotions this season ultimately evokes are, as ever, subtle and sneaky in their power, but they also leave an entirely different impression than seasons past. Aria's customary warm glow is still there, but it's an older, wiser and sadder warmth.

Vol 10 manga review
It's hard to say much more without giving away too much of the plot, but this volume closes out with a strong, emotionally moving finish that explains why Little Miss Useless has stuck around for so long. Watanuki's infatuation with Himawari deepens in a way that few would have ever seen coming, and the things he does for her—as well as what his buddies do for him—say a lot about how friendship can emerge as a spiritual power to trump all other spiritual powers.

Vol 10 manga review
The road to Himawari's dramatic revelation begins right at the first chapter in this book, but few would notice it at first glance—it's a deceptive start, focusing on Watanuki running errands for Yûko like he always does. So yes, here's the pedestrian supernatural-mystery part, with its obligatory air of creepiness as Watanuki finds himself being watched as he carries out his chores. The "solution" to this particular mystery is dramatic enough, but it doesn't seem like anything special compared to what's happened in previous volumes.

It'll take all of Yûko's spiritual know-how, as well as the efforts of aloof classmate Dômeki, to save Watanuki from his own carelessness. Vol 10 manga review
There may have been a time, in the early stages of the series, when it would have been correct to label xxxHOLiC as just another episodic supernatural-mystery series. And sometimes that label still holds true, as in the first few chapters of this volume. However, the truth is that the story and its characters have developed into something much more, and we're not just talking about the Tsubasa crossover. Friends and foes alike have become vital players in Watanuki's dealings with the spirit world, and even the most useless main character—sweet, cheerful Himawari, whose sole purpose up until now was to give Watanuki fits of giggles—turns out to have an agenda. The real mystery, then, might be in finding out who else has a secret to hide.

Vol 10 manga review
The artwork in this series continues to impress with its simple but expressive style. Heavy shadows and sharp, sweeping lines create an air of mystery that few artists could ever hope to match. In fact, even graphic designers can learn from this perfect balance of contrasts: ethereal white on pure black; free-flowing curves set in trim rectangular frames; simple character illustrations against elaborate backgrounds. On a less abstract level, the characters also express a wide range of motions and emotions—one moment Watanuki will be throwing a comical fit (mostly because he gets picked on by everybody else), and the next he'll be staring in wonder when something mysterious comes his way. While not as creatively abundant as previous volumes—Yûko's wardrobe of extravagant dresses isn't as prevalent, and there aren't any strange new spirits to meet—this installment still offers plenty of visual delights.

Vol 10 manga review
Dialogue in this volume ranges from humorous (once again, Watanuki's fits of anger) to brooding (anything that Yûko says), and fortunately the translation is able to convey these emotional states and other ones in between. The text leans towards authenticity here, with honorifics, references to Japanese food, and Yûko's favorite buzzword, "hitsuzen" (inevitability). A glossary helps to explain various points of language and culture, which of course are essential in a series so steeped in Japanese folklore. The stylish sound effects are left untouched, but the little translations placed next to them are so small that they can be easy to miss.

However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga once it is completed. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. Even if flashback-prone Hakuoro and the forces of Tuskuru can rally to defeat the Kunakamen and their Avu Kamu, though, Dii and his “daughter” still remain, as does the secret of Hakuoro's true identity and how that truth will affect everyone. Before all is said and done Hakuoro must confront his forgotten past and the connection binding him and Dii together.

Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

Dub quality remains consistent with earlier volumes, with appropriate electronic modifications made for Hakuro and Dii's voices in their monstrous forms; if you have at least tolerated the dub before, you still will here. The Japanese dub may handle the most emotional parts slightly better, but the English dub is otherwise sufficient and offers no let-down in its scripting.

ADV has never shorted this series on Extras, and the final volume offers just as full a boatload of them as any previous volume. Typical Extras like clean opener and closer and a brief character art gallery accompany typical-for-the-series extras like a glossary (this time updated to reflect the revelations of the last volume, so don't read it before seeing the series through to the end), extended episode previews, and another installment of “Utawarerumono Q & A,” the latter of which pokes fun at the series' ero game origin. Also present are a promo for the PS2 game version of the series and the final installment of Omake Theater, which provides a very funny extension of the omake episode seen in Volume 5, with Hakuoro still dodging responsibility over the incident with Touka's beloved doll.

The end of the series does not resolve everything, as it insufficiently explains the sci fi angle, but that is a minor negative in light of everything else the final volume does right. This is the series at its best, and how well it wraps up slightly elevates the overall evaluation of the series. If you want a generally serious fantasy tale full of lively characters and a good balance of action, tactics, and drama then give this one a chance.

DVD - Season 1 Part 1 Review
Funimation's English dub is no slouch, either. English dubs of anime are often at their best when their actors get to ham it up, and this one offers plenty of succulent pork. The casting is rock-solid, too; Carrie Savage is exactly the right pick for Miu, Sonny Strait is delightfully giddy as Appachi, and Josh Grelle does a fine job in the anchor role of Kenichi. Many of Funimation's other regular male VAs also get their opportunities to have a little fun. If there is a flaw in the English dub, it's that the script sometimes goes a little too far with rewording things, but it flows well enough that this is not a big issue.

DVD - Season 1 Part 1 Review
Extras on the two thinpacked disks, which come within a narrow slipcase, are limited to clean opener and closer. Thirteen episodes in all are included, however.
The first quarter of KtMD is hardly great anime viewing, as it has an annoying start and some irksome habits, but eventually it becomes surprisingly entertaining in its sampling of various forms of martial arts and the tactics involved in using them efficiently. It's cheesy and often silly, but fun.

Never a stand-out series but never bad, either, Utawarerumono chugs along its merry way through an intense, well-paced span of four final episodes which wrap up the story in a sensible fashion while also dishing out a smorgasbord of tasty revelations. Want to know who Hakuoro really is and what's up with those monstrous transformations? Check. Mystery of who Dii is? Solved. What makes Camus special? Revealed. Toss in the weighty implications of more sci-fi flashbacks and some heavy drama you have a highly involving conclusion that should satisfy any fan of the series. Not everything turns out well for characters you may have grown to like, but a great sense of dramatic timing and a proper conclusion and epilogue should amply balance out the more bittersweet elements.

DVD 6 - A Song for Posterity Review
Throughout the series tactical planning and massed battles have been staples of the various story arcs, but as the Kunekamun arc draws to a close the attention shifts to the plot line that has always been a subtext to everything in the series: Hakuoro's true identity and how it impacts everything. Bits and pieces of all of the previous story arcs come together, and new flashbacks explain some missing details, as the events and revelations of those final three episodes cast many scenes from earlier in the series in a new light and bring the overall story together into one unified whole. Mixed throughout is the character development which has been a cornerstone of the series. It may have its origins in an ero game, but with these final episodes the series steps beyond that mold.

Little can be said about the artistry or animation that has not been said in earlier reviews, other than that these episodes are more graphic than the norm and at least one scene seems to have been artistically inspired by End of Evangelion. Oriental Light and Magic, the team responsible for the animation production, maintains quality standards through to the end, which includes appealing character designs and battle scenes sufficiently animated to step above the shortcut-fests seen in other series. Although a minimal amount of massed battles and troop movements occur in this volume, the CG animation still appears in flames, plumes of smoke, and the dark energy involved in Hakuro's transformations, which usually integrates well with the regular animation.

The soundtrack, which has occasionally been prone to overdramatization, consistently hits the mark in this volume, especially in the vocal-supported numbers in episodes 24 and 26. The new song “Kimi ga Tame” sung by opener performer Suara, which starts as an insert song and continues into the final episode's closer, offers a gentle, appropriately melancholy sound, while the original opener and closer otherwise remain unchanged.

Phantom – Requiem for the Phantom Episode 2
Rating: 4
Review: ...And now the show downshifts. Anyone familiar with Koichi Mashimo's girls-with-guns shows knew this was coming. His previous entries in the genre are justifiably infamous for their deliberate (or pokey if you will) pacing, and Phantom is clearly following in their footsteps. Compared to the measured solemnity of this episode, the easy pace of the first episode seems practically antic. The series’ second episode is fully twenty-five minutes of Zwei training and struggling to come to grips with his murderous new life. The closest it gets to gun-flashing action is one sniper kill and a whole lot of target practice.
Sound boring? For some it will be. This is where we separate the boys from the men, or more accurately, the impatient from the patient. The series sells its secrets dearly, doling out information in tiny particulates, and its characters grow and are revealed at a similarly glacial pace. This is the type of show where an entire episode can be devoted to the poisonous process by which its assassin leads are deprived, not only of their memories, but also their emotions and free will.
It's a slow, cold seduction, driven by atmosphere as much as plot. Rather than push forward, the series takes the time to immerse us in Zwei's alienation and dissociation, preferring that we feel his world rather than understand it. It's at once beautiful and icily hypnotic. The scenes of Inferno executives sitting in Jacuzzis and making cryptic comments disrupt but hardly ruin the atmospheric creep.
The dirty old man in me feels compelled to note that this episode also includes some top-notch Ein fan-service.

He helps Akira around the town and cheers up Akira when he's down. There is a rumor that he is somehow related to Shiki. Queen's Blade
Rating: 0.5 (of 5)
Review:
Meticulous research reveals that the Queen's Blade franchise is a series of cheesecake artbooks that also serve as "gamebooks" for a turn-based combat game. This means there is something in the world that combines the sheer dorkitude of Soul Calibur, D&D, and Yu-Gi-Oh!. It also means there is a really, really awful anime based on this product.
The story is simple and mind-numbing: Leina (or possibly Reina) is a wayward princess who wants to see the world, which apparently means battling a demon girl who squirts deadly acidic milk out of her boobs. (I swear I am not making this up.) Luckily, Leina is saved by a roving bandit named Risty, who talks Leina into returning to her royal family—but bandits being what they are, Risty really just wanted to swipe some loot! Along the way, she helps Leina escape once and for all, so that she can have a rematch with the milk-squirting demon girl and participate in a fighting tournament known as the Queen's Blade. And yes, this is basically some flimsy pretext for having scantily-clad young women fight each other to the death.
Since nobody really gives a poop about the storyline, let's turn to the most critical element of a series like this: the character designs. They are, in a word, stunning, in the sense that if you got in the way of these ladies' bazongas, you would probably find yourself with a severe concussion. The fantasy setting makes for lots of fanciful and illogical costumery, along with exotic locales, but the fights themselves rely almost entirely on animation shortcuts or staged poses. So basically, the sex appeal element has all the sensuality and tease factor of a brick to the head, and the action element could probably have been done better if people just waved the artbook illustrations at each other really frantically.
The only redeeming feature of the show might be its grandiose music score, which maybe one day can be recycled for use in a non-awful fantasy series.
